National Highways A1(M) Southbound Junctions 10 to 9 – Resurfacing Closure

Published: 26 February 2024

National Highways plan to carry out essential resurfacing work on the A1(M) southbound between junctions 10 and 9. This will ensure the A1(M) continues to remain in a safe and serviceable condition.

They plan to complete this work over one night starting at 9pm on Monday 26 February, weather permitting. The road will re-open at 5am on Tuesday 27 February.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A1(M) southbound between junctions 10 and 9, and divert traffic as follows:

Drivers will be diverted off the A1(M) at junction 10 (Baldock) heading westbound towards Stotfold (A507) to the sixth roundabout. Take the first exit (Hitchin Road/Bedford Road) heading to Hitchin (A505). Then continue onto the A602 (Parkway),and continue before re-joining the A1(M) at junction 8.

A map of the diversion can be found below.
