Help for rough sleepers

Continuing sub-zero night-time temperatures mean our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol support is extended for those sleeping rough

No one should be sleeping rough this winter.

Our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is activated when the temperature is forecast to drop to zero degrees (or below) for three consecutive nights and it means that temporary night-time shelter is provided for people sleeping rough.

SWEP was activated this week, but will now be extended up to (and including the night of) 9 December 2020. We'll monitor the forecast in case it needs to be extended further.

Our teams are ready to help anyone who finds themselves on the streets. If you see someone sleeping rough, the kindest thing you can do for them is contact our network, and we'll make sure they are offered support.

Let us know:

  • through the StreetLink app
  • on the phone (day) 0300 300 4370
  • on the phone (out of hours) 0300 300 8098

Full details about support available for people sleeping rough is on our website.
