If you see someone who is unconscious and not breathing, call 999 and ask for an ambulance.
The 999 operator can tell you where the closest defibrillator is and may also provide instructions on what to do while you wait.
Stay with the patient: While you wait for the defibrillator, stay with the patient and perform CPR.
Send someone to get the defibrillator: If possible, ask someone else to find and bring the defibrillator to you.
Use a hands-free phone: If you're on your own, use the hands-free speaker on your phone so you can continue CPR while talking to the ambulance.
Early use of a defibrillator and CPR can double a person's chances of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
