On 6th February 2022, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
To celebrate this anniversary, celebrations and events took place throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.

WHAT HAPPENED LOCALLY?
Thursday 2nd June
Thanksgiving Service for the Queen's Jubilee was held at St Mary's Church, Stotfold, followed by participation in the National Beacon Lighting Ceremony, lighting our beacon at Stotfold Ceremony during the evening.
Sunday 5th June
Residents were encouraged to take part in the Big Jubilee Lunch or to hold street parties, and the Town Council made our open spaces are available for such activities.
Throughout the year
Locations are being finalised for tree planting as part of the Queen's Green Canopy tree planting scheme, with planting take place later this year.
Floral planting around the town centre - Bickerdikes Garden Centre, MJ Ryalls Buildings Supplies and Rik Golder Ltd sponsored floral displays for planters in the town centre, with a patriotic floral theme of red, white and blue.
Three Jubilee benches have been purchased, and will be located at various points around the town later this year - locations to be confirmed.
